Douglas Lee 2 Posted July 12, 2021 Posted July 12, 2021 6.5025 is the result of Japan Sales / England Sales. Or, did I miss something image.png1270698 12.7 KB
Ben Maxwell Posted July 12, 2021 Author Posted July 12, 2021 That is my issue; Id expect the ratio to be 6.00 and not 0.00. It appears it isnt calculating as desired. image.png773612 61.5 KB
Ben Maxwell Posted July 12, 2021 Author Posted July 12, 2021 Is it possible to do more complex formulas with Graphs in Designer Studio 8.207 27 Here is my example using the CARS file A) Create calculated field to aggregate Body Sales where Country = Japan B) Create calculated field to aggregate Body Sales where Country = Japan This produces this graphs (which is correct) image.png786773 2.06 KB When trying to do a formula which takes JAPAN_SALES / ENGLAND_SALES, the graph show reflect 6.5, but it doesnt even come close. This is the formula I attempted : Is there a means to make this calculation in Designer Studio When I wouldve done this in App Studio I wouldve created 2 hold files prior to doing the final calculation.
Warren Hinchliffe Posted July 13, 2021 Posted July 13, 2021 Its probably best to turn this into a report to get the calc working. I think what is happening is you end up with 0 as the else for the other countries, so the divide will always be zero. You may have to pre-process and hold the results to get the values in the same record.
Ben Maxwell Posted July 13, 2021 Author Posted July 13, 2021 One of the challenges in Designer Studio is that you are unable to create Hold files on the fly when creating your charts. In App Studio this was a non-issue. Now when I tried building this same graph in InfoAssist, I did become successful when using a Compute statement as opposed to a 'Define. Im going to do some more tinkering, but is it possible that Designer Studio (Version 8.207 27) doesnt offer these 2 distinct options image.png856468 13.6 KB
Ben Maxwell Posted July 13, 2021 Author Posted July 13, 2021 I think I got it! It appears I needed to click on Calculate after aggregation at the point of creating the calculation. By doing so this did yield the proper result. image.png1548939 4.34 KB
Douglas Lee 2 Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 That, as far as I know, is the new way to create a DEFINE (Calculate at the source) or COMPUTE (Calculate after aggregation)
