Hello,

I need to create a define that will pull out just the street address number (i.e. 13 Washington Street would return just 13). But the address number can vary in length from one digit to as many has five. Im currently working in 8206. Id like to do this without creating code.

I went into InfoAssist using ibisamp/employee and created a Define field called ADDRESS_NUMBER :

Yes, TOKEN is the best way, just be aware of any addresses that may not have a space after the number.

That did the trick! Ive never used the TOKEN function before, so this is a great how too. Thank you!

OK good. As Waz implies things could get tricky if addresses dont follow the pattern. If you have to do more on your own, see this post about documentation for the functions:

Functions Reference

You would want to focus on the chapters in the manuals titled Simplified Functions first.

One other thing, if this Address Number is needed by many reports, it would make sense to define this in the metadata, master file.
