Global Variable to Set Default Date Range in Date Control??

Anyone have any success in Designer to set a Variable that you create and have it work on a Date Control?  Currently based on the print screen below, when I run the page, it no longer even shows the date control at all.

I would appreciate any tips on making this work.

I also have a video attached of a sample I am trying to make work.  I have used this type of variable on other type of filter controls and have no problems.

Where to you set the values of your &&PRIOR_WEEK_FROM2 and &&PRIOR_WEEK_TO2, are you sure they have values?
