rueben_ramirez
Hello, Our team currently uses our workspaces tree as a "portal". We're looking into creating a portal to house our visualizations, however, a few of our workspaces contain folders nested in sub-folders. I referenced this forum question and confirmed portals go only 2 levels deep (Main Folder and Sub-Folder). Are 2+ level deep folders supported in a new release with portal designer? We currently run 9.2.3 Example of what we're after: Main Folder (1st Lvl) Sub-Folder (2nd Lvl) Sub-Sub-Folder 1 (3rd Lvl) Sub-Sub-Folder 2 Edited August 5 by rueben_ramirez
David Beagan
I tried it. Created a report in a sub-sub-folder. Then made a simple collaborative portal: I am able to see and run the report in a sub-sub-folder. What happens when you try? rueben_ramirez
Hey David, Thanks for the response! I can confirm the above route works. We took a bit of a different route.. We navigated to Content -> Application -> Portal: From there a folder is created with our new application portal. I used "WebFOCUS" as the portal name. I created a new folder under WebFOCUS labeled as "Alumni" (Sub-Folder) with Sub-Sub Folder "Bloomerang Integration" and Sub-Sub-Sub-Folder "Biographical Changes". I expect to see the two visualizations in the portal, but we are cut-off to only see "Bloomerang Integration" with no descendants. Portal Launched: To your point though, I do see 9.3 includes an updated Portal Designer; which I assume effectively wraps up the portal/collaborative portals designers together? If that is the case, upgrading to the latest 9.3 might be worth the jump. Thank you, Rueben
Patrick Huebgen
@rueben_ramirez There's a limitation on the levels you can have in a portal. You can only have two levels

rueben_ramirez
@Patrick Huebgen Do you know if the two level limitation is present in the 9.3 release with "Create a Portal"? Good to know the "Explorer Container" is an option in the portals. Unfortunately I don't think that will bring more value to our setup; since we currently have users land on the Hub page and then navigate to Workspaces to run reports. Nonetheless, thank you for your responses! I appreciate it 🙂 Edited August 8 by rueben_ramirez
Solution Patrick Huebgen Posted August 9 Solution Share Posted August 9 @rueben_ramirez levels are the same in 9.3 - the new capability is a portal editor on top of the existing portal capabilities.
